Yeah, well, I have thought for a long time we were moving very rapidly towards a police state. There are just too many laws and too many ways to be put in jail or loose your drivers license. In fact last I heard there are over 1000 violations that are NOT motor vehicle related in NJ that can cause you to loose your license for six months or more. Did you know you can loose your drivers license for not getting a dog tag?
As bad as I think it is getting around here, at least we don’t have the lawn police. Well, as far as I know we don’t. This poor guy in Michigan has gone to jail several times over the fact that he does not have a lawn. This is not his fault, he keeps re-sodding, but since he is “not in compliance” he keeps being sent to jail. Wow, that is just pure bull crap! Where is the ACLU when you need them?
WHITE CLOUD — A Newaygo County man could spend another weekend behind bars if he doesn’t take care of his yard.
David Burch says he tried to seed the yard last fall but it wouldn’t take root. This all stems from a contractor who failed to sod the yard in the first place. Now a judge is saying, do the yard or do the time.
“The people who work at the court, at the jail, thought it was funny,” Burch said. “They said there had to be more. I said, ‘No, it’s just because I don’t have grass growing.’ They said, ‘You’re in here for that?'”
He claims he is not skirting the law. Burch said the contractor for his new house is responsible for the lawn. But a White Cloud city ordinance states otherwise.
“This has been in the courts for over a year,” said White Cloud Police Chief Roger Ungrey. “I believe Mr. Burch has made an attempt. He did bring me in some receipts for grass seed.”
But when it didn’t grow, a county judge ordered the yard planted. It never happened. Again this April – no sprouts. Then, in jail, an inspiration. Burch is sodding his yard with donated turf.
“He has been working on it,” Ungrey said. “However, he remains to this day noncompliant.”
That is because the backyard must also be green.
But will the patchwork sod qualify as a lawn? “It’s not your normal sod that you would have, that you would go to a sod farm and purchase,” Ungrey told 24 Hour News 8. “So that remains to be seen. I can’t answer that question.”
Burch was back in court Thursday. The judge told him he has two weeks to complete the job. If not, it’s another weekend back in jail.

Who ever is the last one to leave, please turn out the lights.

3. Do you sleep easily or toss and turn? I toss and turn big time. Just ask my wife 🙂 She hates the way I sleep.

I went over to Wikipedia today to look something up. On the front page I noticed the “pic of the day.” The picture was of Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. I have had a strange attraction to this picture since I was a child. Not sure why, but I just love it. I have used it as wallpaper many times and had several posters of it over the years so I figured I would share.
The Starry Night is a painting by Dutch post-impressionist artist Vincent van Gogh. Since 1941 it has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Widely hailed as his magnum opus, the painting has been reproduced many times and is one of his most renowned paintings.

Another case of the little guy standing up for himself! Seems in order to get around a national smoking ban, this guy is going to become part of another country 🙂 This may seem a tad extreme, but it may be effective in fighting back and bringing light to lost freedoms. I don’t smoke, but I do believe people should have the right to smoke in places like bars. It goes hand in hand. I wish someone would try this in NY or NJ where you can’t smoke anywhere anymore. It would be interesting to watch that court case to see if we can regain any of the liberties that are being stripped away from us little by little on a daily basis. Sir, I salute you!

Did the Vatican really need to make these part of Papal Law? Sigh, you would think they have better things to do. Here are the commandments taken from a 36 page paper put out by the Vatican last week.
The 10 car commandments
1. You shall not kill.
2. The road shall be for you a means of communion between people and not of mortal harm.
3. Courtesy, uprightness and prudence will help you deal with unforeseen events.
4. Be charitable and help your neighbor in need, especially victims of accidents.
5. Cars shall not be for you an expression of power and domination, and an occasion of sin.
6. Charitably convince the young and not so young not to drive when they are not in a fitting condition to do so.
7. Support the families of accident victims.
8. Bring guilty motorists and their victims together, at the appropriate time, so that they can undergo the liberating experience of forgiveness.
9. On the road, protect the more vulnerable party.
10. Feel responsible toward others.

Crop circles. Mysterious right? There are lots of theory’s on who or what makes them. Well now we know thanks to police in Holland. Just look at this evidence……
What made this lovely example of a crop circle? Aliens? Heck no….. just some guy whacked on coke trying to get away from the police in daddy’s car 🙂
LOL, well it was only a matter of time. As soon as my friends and I saw the announcement on these mailboxes, we knew people were scheming and debating selling them on eBay 🙂
(CBS13) LOUISVILLE, Ky. A search of intergalactic importance is underway. But, it didn’t happen a long time ago, or in a galaxy far, far away.
A mailbox painted to look like the Star Wars character R2-D2 was stolen, which is a federal offense. It’s not just the droid the Post Office is looking for, it’s the mail inside. For each item of mail stolen, the thief could spend five years in prison.
“I think those guys have joined the dark side or something,” Rod Whitenack, Star Wars fan “why would you steal an R2D2 mailbox. Besides the fact it’s a federal offense, that’s just not cool, man.”
Postal inspectors are continuing to investigate.
Wow, I just saw this pic and it’s sinking in. Yes they really ARE going through with the 4th Indy movie. After all the hemming and hawing, I thought it would never come about. But here was the proof I needed to truly believe that it wasn’t all a dream …..
