I learned a lesson today. You don’t have to spend a lot to get good tea. I am a huge fan of pricy tea and usually avoid the low price brands. Well, today im the dollar store near my home I picked up a box of generic green tea because I was out. So far I have had four tea drinkers other than myself try this mystery tea and all were impressed. It’s really good! 100 bags for a dollar! What a find. Only problem is now I have to back since two of the guys want their own box šŸ™‚

The Force

The Newest Star Wars Character

Thanks to a blog post by Wil Wheaton I just learned of World Wide D&D day. Wil has been making me dredge up childhood memories lately and I can’t thank him enough for that. The geekdad blog at Wired is also posting about it today and even giving away some manuals if you leave a comment. Today I even feel inspired to play or at least grab an old Dragonlance novel for nostalgia sake šŸ™‚

D&D was a huge part of my past, lots and lots of good memories. That one game gave me some life long friends and helped develop a love of Sci-fi and fantasy books. That in turn developed a life long love of reading. I owe a lot to this one simple game and it’s power to spark imagination and creativity.

The trifecta of my childhood was D&D, Star Wars and the Boy Scouts. So far my kids have been exposed to one of the three, Star Wars and they have taken to it like a fish to water. Soon they will be led to the others. I truly hope they enjoy them as much as I did but if not, well at least I tried šŸ™‚

Hey there! Well it’s been a week since my last update. So how an I doing? Well so far so good. My weight is stable but I’m not working on that yet. I am sleeping much better and don’t feel nearly as stressed at work. All in all I feel in better health, so what’s next?

Since I was not dumb enough to try and fix everything at once I still have a long way to go to get to GZD 2.0 status. Food is my next deamon to fight. Lay week I started back on Weight Watchers. Boy I forgot how much I love tracking stuff, LOL.

For the last week I have been right on with my points. Well except for the weekend. Weekends are my achiles heel. During the week I eat in my work cafe. Portions are limited and I eat a salad every day. Now at home it’s mostly takeout or pizza joints. I have no will power with them. Well since I am getting serious about WW as step two of my plan this week I will just have to buckle down. Oh well šŸ™‚

A week or two into WW I get to start the dreaded exercise in earnest. For now I to some situps, puships and avoid my work elevator……no real plan. I need a plan. On the plus side since it’s getting warmer I can get by without a gym if I try. Ok the down side….. I really hate exercise šŸ˜¦ Alas, it can’t be avoided any longer since I’m still growing and not in a good way.

I’ll keep the updates coming, wish me luck!

Sorry about last weeks post, it was done but I forgot to publish. Sigh, sorry techtard sometimes…..

Phase 1 of my GZD 2.0ish plan – Stop Drinking

Now thats not as bad as it sounds. No, I’m not an alcoholic but it does involve alcohol somewhat. In the last two weeks I have cut out almost all of myĀ caffeineĀ intake. Ā That is a HUGE feat for me. Ā I have gone from 1-2 pots of coffee a day to 2 cups. Ā My body still hates me for it, but I see improvements. I am sleeping better, go figure butĀ ironicallyĀ I have more energy during the 2nd half of my work day. Ā I can’t figure that one out but it seems to be working so I won’t complain šŸ™‚Ā The decaf coffee at my job suck so I amĀ drinkingĀ a ton of herbal tea and water with lemon juice. Ā I may have to invest in Celestial Seasonings stock.

Along with coffee, I have cut out soda. Ā Here is where the alcohol comes in. Since the only soda I drink is mixed with gin or whiskey I am saving on the empty calories from both. Ā I switched to one glass of red wine a night and have lost almost five lbs in the last week. Ā Very cool! Ā Also, red wine is much better for my health according to many studies out there so it’s a win win in my book šŸ™‚

Now I just need to find tea and wine that I really like to keep me away from the coffee and soda.

Last weeks tea- Celestial SeasoningsĀ TangerineĀ Orange Zinger – 4 out of 5

Celestial Seasonings Fruit Tea Sampler Pack – 3 out of 5

Last Weeks Wine- Gallo Family, Twin Valley Merlot 4 out of 5

Gallo Family, Twin Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1 out of 5

I’ve been feeling like crap lately, just ask my wife. Ā I think I really need to make a lot of changes to get back to where I was just a few years ago. What’s different? Well now a days I have no energy, am very irritable, am 35 lbs. overweight, VERY stressed out andĀ generallyĀ in poor health. Is this a mid-life crisis? I don’t think so. It’s more a sign of me not giving up on myself and wanting a better quality of life.

So, how am I going to fix my life? Well honestly I just don’t know but I am planning all the time and will be putting updates here forĀ friendsĀ to follow. I have started step one and it’s going very well so far but that’s for my next post. I just wanted to put this one out to prepare my friends and family that I may seem a bitĀ weirdĀ but it’s for the best.
